LawWorks Legal Primer: Understanding Employee Rights in Organisational Restructuring and Closure

LawWorks Legal Primer: Understanding Employee Rights in Organisational Restructuring and Closure

  • Tuesday, 27 January
  • 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
  • On Zoom

When a company enters restructuring or insolvency, uncertainty spreads fast. Employees often worry about job security, unpaid salaries, CPF contributions, and what their rights really are. Much of what circulates in the workplace is based on assumptions rather than facts.

This webinar explains, in clear terms, what organisational restructuring and closure actually mean for you as a worker. You will learn how these processes work, what happens to employment contracts, when wages and benefits are protected, and where the real risks lie. We will also clarify common misconceptions, including when jobs may be retained, when retrenchment becomes likely, and how employee claims are treated compared to other creditors.

Join our moderator, Regana Mydin (Learning and Development Manager, Rajah & Tann Asia Academy), together with the panel, Chong Yee Leong (Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP) and Patrick Tay (Assistant Secretary-General, NTUC), as they focus on practical understanding so you can respond calmly, make informed decisions, and know where to seek help if your organisation faces financial distress.

This webinar is brought to you by LawWorks – a collaboration between Pro Bono SG (PBSG) and the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).
